So i'm having a clear out of all the things I never use or wear, sticking things on eBay to get extra cash and have a clear out. However, even though I haven't worn half the things in years I find myself thinking 'oooh I like this' or 'oooh that will go lovely with these shoes' & the clear out turns into me reviewing all my old things, admiring them and moving on to more things. I can't seem to part with things. How do people do it? Am I the only one who does this?

Not some things. Its everything. I can't seem to let anything go haha
I need to clear 2 and a half wardrobes and I'm exactly the same, some still have the price tags and labels on them how sad is that

Sibton, I am the same I have dresses I havent worn either.2 and a half wardbrobes is loads. I have one and I struggle. I feel your pain!
Be strict...
LOL S&S I've been doing EXACTLY the same all day, sorted no end of stuff out but still can't see where I've been! Have a pile of clothes to sell on Ebay but just can't take the plunge (wimp!) missed a golden opportunity again as its free listing this weekend!
I have 5 double wardrobes full of clothes................and nothing to wear.

Ann I thought that was the case because some listings I added a few extra photos and the listing was free :D Better make sure I try pop up as much as I can and take advantage of the free listing. Try pop some up and be brave? no> I know it is hard though. Once I sell it I want it again, but when I have it I don't want it.
Me too Craft - I'm SO embarrassed, I have to hang my clothes on the outside of the wardrobes in our spare room now .............
Its the postage I worry about - do you take the parcels to the PO first to be weighed before listing, or just guess?
Question Author
Ann I normally just guess and hope it doesnt cost me more to post than I am paid. Sometimes eBay has a limit on the postage. I think books are no more than £4.00 but I have really thick and heavy uni books that cost me £9.95 to post once so I ended up losing out.
Started clearing out yesterday loads of old photos went in the recycling...
Starting on the craft stuff later might need more bin bags
its a kind of grieving..
weigh the parcel on kitchen or bathroom scales 1st and check how much online. And with regards to throwing clothes out, give to charity and think of the people you are helping. You should throw anything you havnt worn in the last year.
The answer is to downsize your house( I jest !!thats a bit drastric)but it worked for me We moved from a 3 bedroom house to a pensioners 1bed so something had to go That was in July but I am afraid it is mounting up again I have tried to analyse my buying and hoarding, and in my case, when I was a child we did not have much and had to keep what we had as "good"now I buy say a top and it stays in the wardrobe with the tags on waiting for when I need something "good"
I now have 5 huge bags to take to our local day Hospice this week, they have a small charity shop and do such a worthwhile job.
i am really good at chucking out to make more room, but I just cannot do that with photos! They get sorted then all get put back lol
Its only stuff...it feels wonderful when its gone.
ann,you weight your item on reliable kitchen scales, add a bit extra weight to allow for packaging, then look at this chart here for UK postage ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/public/ctf/
rm/RMLT17_UK_Wall_Chart2.pdf

There's a separate chart if you want to add postage options for overseas. Don't forget to add a bit extra for your brown paper, tape etc., and if you have to use petrol to get to the PO.

If something costs more to mail than the postage ceiling allowed for eBay in some topics, just add a bit extra to the starting price of the item, to cover it.

Btw on free listing days, it's only the first photo that you get free - if you add more than one photo, you pay something like 12p extra per photo.

Take your photos during the next couple of weeks - I find free listing weekends come up about every three weeks at the moment.

I share your frustration about keeping things - my house is stuffed (and I mean stuffed) with stuff, and I find it very hard to get rid of it, but eBay is helping - what I sell on eBay goes to spending money for our holidays.
Craft stuff, rowan? - that'll sell on eBay!
