i have just seen them on live 8 they bloody well rock.  i let my daughter stay to watch it and saw the floyd and all she could say was they're old.  blooming kids.

ive saw floyd in 1988 but i have to say that ive never particularly liked them(i went thru curiosity) !

i know its horses for courses but i think they are very over-rated - sorry !

Im with you hellywellywo.  They were fantastic better than ever. The music the voices I'm in heaven.  I'll be getting out 'Dark side' on vinyl later.  Our 15 year old watched it and knew some of the music.  So there is some hope for this generation.  I had to give it to him that Scissor Sisters were good too.

Have just got back from Hyde Park. Was absolutely amazing. But Pink Floyd were certainly up in the top 3 acts there. Possibly slightly topped by an outstanding performance from The Who. Anyway, i'm certainly going to have another listen to their albums!

good morning there everyone.  even tho they're not your taste in music lucky you for seeing them in concert, mattk.  But peri and mikeyp you two have to be me best mates right now.  my big brother thinks the floyd are acceptable, which in his unenthusiastic wording is high praise.  But i only know one other person who likes them so someone elses appreciation of them is fab.  i really liked 'wish you were here' and when the guitar riff throughout comfortably numb playing it brought tears to my eyes.  thankfully my hubby is away in cyprus at the moment 'cos he just doesn't get it.  where you in standing in hyde park?  that must have been the most amazing experience ever.  Oh yeah I have to agree that Scissor Sisters  were not to shabby.

I thought Pink Floyd were awesome. What a place to do a comeback appearance. Excellent choice of songs, especially as it would have been so easy to do a crowd pleaser- Another Brick in the Wall. It left my 16 year old daughter asking my why I had only got 1 of their albums. They may be old but age does not matter if you are good enough. Let's have a reunion tour please

Does anyone think that they might put aside their differences and really reform and do a tour?  How awesome would that be?

Pink floyd were fantastic, dave gilmour is still one of the greatest lead guitarists of all time.

I don't think anyone is going to disagree with that too much.  Have just finished listening to 'The Wall'  that was a pretty cool album.  It took me back 14 years to 1991 when I was 14 and I started to attend a youth club to get away from my parents and these kids introduced to me loads of different music and pink floyd was on eof them.  But it has to be said mattk that there was no funny stuff involved here.  Unless of course if you count the fact that i fancied the lad who introduced me to the music.

The Floyd were absolutely brilliant. To start with Breathe rather than Money or Time was genius!!

I don't think they will reform to tour though. I have watched their performance twice now and my earlier suspicions were confirmed, Dave Gilmour does not look at Roger Waters once during the performance. Indeed Roger Waters calls back Gilmour to take a bow at the end of the set with the band.

Pink Floyd were sublime. The writing and music is pure poetry. Wish they had played 'on the turning away'. The words to that song would have been perfect for live8.

starman, regarding Water and Gilmour, read Nick Mason state that during rehearsals it was as before with jokes and fun. So while Gilmour did not look at Waters the bow and arms interlocked did seem genuine.

Simply the best act there for me it totally blew me away. Comfortably Numb had me in a trance from start to finish, its a pretty amazing song. Those guys are incredible!

Nice to hear people sing the Floyds praises, theres not enough of it in my book! Well they were superb and well worth the long wait. Comfortably Numb was superb although it would have been better if they had the time to let Dave Gilmour unleash the 9 minute guitar solo that just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and my Jaw drop to the floor. Did anyone else notice that they had what appeared (i was a bit tipsy!) to be 20/25 minutes on stage? and also howcome they were the only band to be able to use their on Film images?!! It must be the power of the FLoyd! I dont think this is the last we will see of them either , well i am praying thats not the case!!

Dom Tuk - I hope that what Nick Mason said was true, because it was Waters that telephoned Gilmour personally and persuaded him to do it, after he had initally said No. No one can deny that Dave Gilmour can be difficult, didn't he attempt to have Nick Mason kicked out of the Floyd prior to or during the recording of the Divison Bell?

I personally hope they will tour, but can't see it, so I'll have to make do with the Australian Pink Floyd Show.

Pink Floyd were absolutely incredible and my 15 year old daughter thought so, too. We were both wishing we'd been there. We also loved The Who, of whom she's a big fan. It's very rare for her to get enthusiastic about 'chart' music, thank god. Don't think I could put up with having to listen to too much of that 'middle of the road' rubbish'!!
