My music listening has got a bit stagnated lately, and have just been listening to the same songs repeatedly.  Can anyone suggest some good indie type music to listen to, sort of in the vein of Coldplay?  I've just discovered Dashboard Confessionals, anything similar to that perhaps?  Any suggestions welcome! :D

How about Athlete, Kings Of Convenience, Budapest, Embrace, Haven, Snowpatrol, The Unbelievable Truth.
Have a listen to The Ordinary Boys latest album 'Brassbound' and also their debut album 'Over The Counter Culture'.
Hard-Fi's Stars Of CCTV is a superb album.  Different to Coldplay, but I recommend it to anyone.
The Kasabian album is brilliant(Although some others on here will tell you otherwise). Arcade Fire and Maximo park are also very good, and you could try Interpol.

I def echo all the bands Khana mentioned. Also Longview, Razorlight, Ben Folds, Bright Eyes, Eels, Idlewild, jet, starsailor, the stills, the vines, the zutons, doves.

Do you still like the libertines? think their latest is pretty good!

i think keane are a bit like coldplay, but much better
This week I are been mostly listening to Super Furry Animals and The Arcade Fire. I'd also recommend British Sea Power, The New Pornographers and Amsterdam.

Mind you, these bands might be a bit too exciting for a Coldplay fan :-) (only teasing)
My baby sister made me listen to Embrace and I mistook them for Coldplay so maybe they're up your street.
The Bravery are good. They sound absolutely nothing whatsoever like Coldplay (and that's no bad thing) but The Subways are class!
I think now I'm just imposing my taste on you rather than recommending Coldplayalikes.
Blue Merle an earlier post had downloaded their song Burning in the sun and thought it was Chris Martin (does sound like him) personally the Magic Numbers debut album is great (more upbeat than Coldplay though) I just love The Killers Hot Fuss, also how about some classic Echo & the Bunneymen or the becoming popular again Ramones (nothing like Coldplay) oh and the White Stripes, I'll stop now, but give them all a try, you might like.
The Electric Soft Parade are an excellent Indie/rock band. They haven't done anything recently but their first two albums: Holes in the wall (won the mercury prize in 2002) and American Adventure are worth listening to.

Woah a lot of answers here!  Well, I'm already a big fan of Athlete, Embrace, Snow Patrol, Ordinary Boys (hoping to buy Brassbound soon), Kasabian, Razorlight, Libertines, Bravery, Maximo Park, Magic Numbers, lol about half of suggestions but there are a lot of bands listed below I've heard are good but have never actually heard any of their material, so I will definately be checking a lot of them out.

James79 - Libertines haven't released anything since 2004? :S If you mean Babyshambles (Pete Doherty's new band) then yeah their new stuffs great, like the Libertines but with a rougher edge.  You heard F*** Forever?

Jeff Buckley's Grace would be a good way to start your new musical discovery. Avoid Idlewild, though, they're overrated.
Something a bit different - why not try The Music's "Welcome To The North" CD, love the track Breakin'  (was a single a while back but didn't get far).
if you like dashboard confessionals then try My Chemical Romance, AFI
Yeah MCR are really good, also if you like Dashboard Confessionals you might wanna try some more punk bands like Simple Plan (some people say they sound like Hard-Fi...hmmm...)
Have you tried the Futureheads?

I quite like some of MC Hammer's stuff.

The one where he says "hammer time!" is brill. Maybe you could look that one up?

Kubb.  They were on Jools Holland, just happened to see then at V festival.  Little bit Radiohead ( but mellower), little bit Coldplay (but sexier), little bit Keane, but not a wet bed in sight - oh just listen!!!!

...well these aren't really exactly like Coldplay, but I seem to share similar music tastes to you and can wholeheartedly recommend Arcade Fire "Funeral" and the two albums by the Polyphonic Spree....if you can get over the "weirdness" (in some people's opinion) of 23 Texans in robes as I did after seeing them live, you'll find you are in for a treat...they are ace! I'm what some people might consider 'a townie' but have an eclectic music taste - the Spree rock!

And Doves do some of the most awesome indie rock about at the moment, in my opinion...Some Cities is a great album.

i clicked on this link to suggest dashboard confessional but since you have already discoverd them il suggest a few similar: try the early november (a song called ever so sweet is one of my favs) also sugarcult, the starting line, steel train, brandnew, midtown, the spill canvas (nick names the new dashboard by many

if you only try one from that list make it brandnew, there best songs are to be found on the deja entendeu alb.
