I don't listen to pop music very much these days, but in the 1970's, this album was rarely off my turntable.

You couldn't get me to Glasto in a sack, but I might be persuaded to attend a Carol King concert !

I don't expect to be remembering anything much in 45 years' time. But others may well remember the likes of Adele and Beyoncé.

You might enjoy "Beautiful", the musical about King's life, though perversely it made Mann and Weil sound the more interesting couple.

Unfortunately, Mikey, many of us will never know. My grandparents probably said the same thing about Elvis or The Beatles. I think music is designed to be more disposable though - streaming /downloading- so you are probably right

Would love to see Carole King live, but decided not to go.

Even in indoor venues you end up looking at a screen, rather than the performer if you are too far back, or have tall people in front of you, so thought this would be like looking at a speck on the horizon.

‘Tapestry’ is one of the best albums of all time.

Tapestry was a little before my time (music-wise). I only 'discovered' it about five or six years ago.

Love it.

I can totally understand why it was so massive.

I urge you to have a listen to an artist along a similar(ish) vein - Judee Sill.

She only ever released two albums (she died in 1979) but they are absolute masterpieces. If you like Tapestry, there's a strong possibility you'll like Judee.

sp....Judee Sill is an old favourite of mine !

Her first album was released about the same time as "Tapestry" I lent it to a friend in the mid 70's and never saw it again.........nobody would admit liability !

But on my first trip to the States, in 1978, I found a second-hand copy in a yard sale on the campus of Amherst College in Massachusetts, where some friends were studying, and I still have it now, somewhere in the attic.

Another great loss to drug addiction I'm afraid......she was only 35 when she died in 1979. Forgotten by most people these days, apart from you and me !

( Another favourite from my youth was Tim Hardin....one of the greatest losses to song writing of the period in my humble opinion )

I first heard about Judee Sill when I was watching an old rerun of the Old Grey Whilstle test about four years ago). She performed The Kiss, and I thought it was one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard (and still do).

I have both of her studio albums, plus a compilation and a live albums she recorded for the BBC from 1972.

The last minute of 'The Lamb Ran Away With The Crown' where she does a four part harmony with herself is pure genius.

It's a huge, huge, huge shame that she isn't celebrated more than she is.
