Prudie,....can't agree ! The Queen of the Night is very beautiful indeed !

I have heard this sung live on many occasions, but rarely as well as this. This aria is notoriously difficult to sing.
Adore Roberto Alagna and this is lovely from L'elisir D'amore by Donizetti.

What I meant Mikey is it's not a lilting beautiful tune for those who've never heard it before but as you say what a demonstration of the voice as an instrument. It stuns me.

Prudie....here is a clip from Elektra, which not everybody would describe as "beautiful".....but it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up !

Bjorling was of the greatest tenors of the 20thC.He would have lived longer(and achieved more) but he was an alcoholic,the main cause of his early death at 49.

Joseph Calleja is next in line i feel, he has a stupendous voice, very old school.
