Marietta's Lied. What a beautiful piece, OldBather. To my shame I have never heard of Korngold or his Die Tote Stadt.
I've caught up with some of the posts, if not all of the recommendations.
Hearing the lovely araa from Orphée et Euridice again reminded me of Barbara Dixon on the South Bank Show. Was that the song she was having a go at?

'Song of the High Hills' by Frederick Delius. Almost unknown these days, well due for a resurgence. I grew-up to this music sounding through the house on Sunday mornings. We played it for my father's funeral - and I want it for mine. You need to allow yourself to float away with the imagery - wonderful sounds.
Yes, Emmie, I did spot your link eventually. Have been out doing a bit of shopping.
Glad that others love Bjorling's voice. I mentioned a while back and interview with Christopher Lee. I think Bjorling tried to persuade Lee to become a singer rather than a vampire, but it didn't work out that way.
Biggest tenor(in the "star" sense) voice at that time, though, was Callas' recording collaborator (and one-time lover?).
