Have A Tune For Then
I was thinking a day or so ago about the tunes we listened to way back in the 60s. Like all the teens then, we had Dylan, Who, Stones, Beatles, Yardbirds, Cream, Animals, Small Faces etc etc. But when we were out at night at The Torch, Place, Mojo, Wheel and others the sound track was R&B from the States. Some great dance tunes that used to make the places electric. Happy Daze.

I discovered music in late 1971 and first picked up a love of the 60s from tracks on the Golden Hour on radio 1.
I love looking at footage of the cultural scene in the 60s because it was a bit before my time but if you like that sort of thing, I found a really good series on iplayer which I downloaded called Oh you pretty things : The story of music and fashion. I have just watched the 60s episode and am looking forward to the later decades
Best thing about this thread is that I've found out Togo must be older than me (whistles nonchalantly).
I'd just found 'proper' music at college ('71) when my home mates discovered the clubs of Manchester. I went round with them but hated it - never got into Tamla, Soul, R&B as you call it.
I'll have a think to see if there's one track I could put on.
