Purely my biassed opinion, one of the best Tenor's this century is Ronaldo Villazon. Our departed friend Mikey might agree with me .

I'm not an expert, but I'd go for the "Most interesting hair" tenor.

My favourite tenor of latter years is Domingo (hope Mikey agrees). Far superior (to this lay critic) than the reedy Carreras and the ostentatiously sweaty handkerchief Pavarotti, love him and "Nessun Dorma" as I do).

Oh, forgot to mention a voice I love although he doesn't do classical opera for a living. I refer to Andrea Bocelli, and can remember Pavarotti's reference to him when he first hit the scene. "A beautiful voice" was Pavarotti's description.

Gretel and I have enjoyed your link to Piotr Beczala and can appreciate your saying that he is a contender for 'Best Tenor'. However, we are Not really impressed with Juan Diego Flórez, who does Not appear to have the passion we like to hear from operatic tenors.

Reference being made to Andrea Bocelli, who is an excellent singer but, because of blindness ,is unable to read music. It may therefore surprise folk to know that Pavarotti never learnt to read music.
