Or was it the Shaft ,album
My first record after we got a Dansette record player was Kewpie Doll by Frankie Vaughan
Frankie Vaughan

He opened a youth club ( grand opening, cutting ribbon etc ) near me when I was a nipper, he left with a Black eye !
R. Dean Taylor - Gotta see Jane, (single).

Rolling Stones - Aftermath, (L.P.)
Gotta See Jane is a great song. In fact, all three of Taylor's big hits were great.
Special bonus for me. I asked out the girl in the record shop, and it went well. It went very very well :-)
Not the first record but the best ever. Albatross by Fleetwood Mac.
I remember playing this on a dansette with the arm back so it played constantly for hours.
This is also on my funeral list.
Great record that, Caran.
tonyav - who gave him a black eye?
One of the local tough guy's at the youth club, if you knew the area that it was in then you wouldn't have been surprised.
//Bobbisox1, I used to love Francoise Hardy Songs//

I just loved Francois Hardy as a young lad. I never actually listened to her songs. First time I saw her was in Grand Prix.
That's awful - he was such a nice guy and grew up in a tough area of Liverpool and wanted to make a difference. What was his reaction?
Jeepster by T Rex was my first record.
Have I got the oldest? Lonnie Donegan Cumberland Gap 1956
i bought my mum Glenn Miller recordings, in about the 1960's
Tommy Steele, Singing the Blues.

my first..from Woolies 4/6d
We must have had a fairly limited selection of recorded music back in the day - I recall Unchained Melody "charted" several times in 1955 with different artists.
And Eddie Calvert (and his golden trumpet) was a big hit around then.
Hernando's Hideaway also got played a lot.

for Caran...I love this too
they appeared down here in an old small school hall used as the village community centre - Mylor - and holding about 400 max. And we're not talking the tribute band! Albatross was on their play-list....
