Beatles OVER RATED
In my opinion The Beatles are the most over rated band of all time closely followed in no particular order by U2, The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Oasis, REM. Just because all of these artists are popular (fair play to them for making money on limited talent) doesn't make them good. Let me know what you all think

I don't like the early Beatles pop sound, but I really like their post Sgt Peppers period. My Dad got me hooked on Led Zep II, but a later album he played with a track called Achilles on it sent me running for cover and as for LedZep IV, I can't understand how that became their best known album.
I love Nirvana, but am quite prepared to accept their first album is pap.
Can I change the subject as I'm in the right company for an answer. I once heard a weird album by a female spin off from Frank Zappa and the Mothers... Can anyone tell me the name of the girl band??

being a huge Beatles fan, not to mention zeppelin, I find it hilarious that when anyone chooses to polarise an argument theses groups,in particular the Beatles are held up as the standard against which they measure their own preference. In doing so they actually defeat their own argument, effectively raising the profile of the thing they want to denigrate.Another salient point may be relevant ie: The Beatles had a recording life-span of approx 9 years, look at the way in that period that they advanced music universally, even presenting the Stones with their first chart success along with scores of other artists who recorded Lennon & MCcartney numbers that were either never released by the Beatles or were only released on albums. Incidentally I don't agree that no-one influenced the Beatles, it's pretty well documented that Buddy Holly was a major source of inspiration that is recognisable particularly in their early work.
