Recorded from last night and just watching it now. Wondering how Hotel California never even made the top 30 biggest selling hits in the UK!

on catch up, with all but one of the ad breaks removed, it boils down to 67 minutes......
Apologies for lack of precision.
Huh,a hundred good records from 2000 to 2021.There were about 300 good records in 1964 alone.

Yes in our opinion but its not a fact. Just pointing out that your claim about nly a handful good records now was just your opinion and not mine. In my opinion. and in opinion of those who stream music now.

There are great records from all decades including the 00s and 10s.
@16.20.Perhaps,tiggs,but not a lot recently that will be remembered 50 years on from now.The golden years of popular music is now passed.Wont come back again.Sigh.
By the way ,did i mention that Great expecta.....ohh,never mind.
Simple answer- the Eagles weren't as popular in the U.K. as they were in the States.
If I hear Hotel California, it definitely takes me back to a time and place...people,bars,work. Mostly good.
They were.Just here in Britain we had a bigger selection of good or should i say excellent bands to pick from. The Yanks had been trying to play catch-up with the Brits from about 1964.
They really weren't Ynna. Stateside, Eagles were a phenomenon, probably the biggest American act of the 70s. Over here, they were huge, but not in that "Superstar" level reserved for the likes of the Eltons, Rods and Stevies of the time.
♪ Red Light Spells Danger ♪ - Billy Ocean was one of my stand out favourites of that year.

Often comes to mind on some AB threads too ;-)
I love that song Mamya. Almost a Northern Soul feel to it.
Probably why I like it Mozz, yes.
To me, America was never "catching up"...we were there.
Here's just a few...

Pasta, I think there were just very different styles favoured between the UK and US charts in the 70s. We never really got into Southern Rock or latterly Yacht Rock, whereas in the States, in the main, Glam and (our version of) Punk never went mainstream.
ken, it was a long time after I was 14 that I was able to afford albums. I had to collect al awful lot of abandoned Coke bottles just to buy a single.
