i like oasis' version - 99 times out of 100 covers are crap but occasionally someone covers a song and dares to alter the style as in this case and it really works!

i heard a slow acoustic version of blue monday yesterday and that is also brilliant.

the thing that makes me laugh about tony christie is that he thinks everyone luvs him ! hes failed to notice that its peter kay who made the song popular again !

Noel's cover is just about the only Christmas song I can stomach. Slade's version was played to death by about 1980, and the less said about TC the better! He's a smug old git.

slades song is an xmas classic of that there is no doubt but it comes from a different age and the lyrics have dated badly.

i prefer the songs that cleverly are set at xmas rather than being about xmas eg fairytale of new york
