Group called 'The The'

Does anyone know any information about this group who had a few hits in the 80's?

it was mainly one guy Matt Johnson

had a few good albums

Soul Mining

Infected

Mind Bomb

Dusk

being the best. johnny Marr from the Smiths was on Mind Bomb and Dusk.

If you are going to buy one album I would recommend Dusk

The The were a criminally under rated band (i say band but matt johnson was essentially the the).
Soul Mining and Infected were great albums.
I disagree with spat i think Infected is the best album (imo).
Matt johnson was a bit dark and quite radical and wasnt very media friendly so the didnt really go mainstream although Infected was quite poppy.
He was joined by David Palmer on drums around the Jonny Marr time - Palmer is an amazing drummer formerly of ABC.
I think MJ went a bit more political after Infected and became more disillusioned with the 'business'.
Dont know what he is doing now to be honest - i'm sure a bit of googling will reveal all.

infected is an awesome album and would easily slot in my all time top ten.

i also bought the full length video from the album which i believe was the 1st music video release to be rated 18.

I agree with gary baldy-The The was sadly underated. My fave album is soul mining, infected comes a close second, both of these would be a good place to start if you were going to download or purchase any.
