..according to LyricFreak it was a joint effort on lyrics and music by Bowie and Queen... http://www.lyricsfreak.com/q/queen/112560.html

Thanks for that Ermintrude35 I have found similar things myself but, something more concrete would certainly settle the argument

You'll do for me!

Many Thanks!!!

I'm surprised Rogers and Edwards dont get a writing credit aswell because the bass line is complete rip off of Chic's - Good Times!
Amazing song. I read somewhere that it was written during a jam session with Queen and Bowie, and was originally called "People on Streets".

Gary - are you confusing this bassline with "another one bites the dust", which is quite similar to Good Times?
Yes i am.
My knowledge of Chic is obviously much greater than Queen (in fact i cant stand Queen but hey ho!)
Thanks for the correction.
For what it's worth, there's a bootleg available online which is strictly Queen jamming with the basic "Under Pressure" riff and Freddie improvising lyrics that are totally different than those found on the final mix. Based on that, I'd say that "Under Pressure" started out as a Queen song, and then David Bowie added his two cents.
