i love tom waits but i dont know anyone else who makes similar music.if anyone could tell me some other similar artists it would be much appriciated.cheers

Leonard Cohen is the first name that springs to mind (intense, yes, but by no means as wrist-slashingly depressing as some would have you believe). Also Nick Cave and even Johnny Cash in his later years. If you're looking for a newer artist, little-known Canadian country-blues singer Bocephus King might fit the bill.

Damian Jurado is very good but he's probably not as dark as Tom Waits worth checking out. Tom Mcrea comes to mind too
