I know mike the lead singer is a married man now and living on a boat somewhere but that hair and that song gives me shivers!Just love it!

OMG yeah i did Metz was gutted they didn't sing Wishing though and there was less hair,on top at least!

I'm with Metz on this one. Although AFOS made some fine recordings - 'Wishing' included - 'I Ran' was a real classic. Wasn't a very big hit either.

When 'I Ran' came out, Video Jukeboxes in pubs was the latest thing, and 'I Ran' featured prominently (good video, too), which was just as well, as it hardly got any radio play. There was only twelve songs per Video Jukebox and it took ages for it to go from the end of one song to the beginning of the next.

Oh the memories! When this came out me and my mate at uni went to see the Flock Of Seagulls at the famous HACIENDA in Manchester....they were absoluteley brilliant.I love that song...God that must be 20 years ago.Thanks for reminding me.

they did some awesome tunes.i was only really aware of wishing and the more you live but after watching bands re-united also discovered space age love song and i ran.

the story about his hair if anyone is interested is that when backstage in their early days,2 of the guys were spraying and gelling their hair to the max and one as a joke smoothed the sides up and patted the top down of the leadsingers hair and the seagull was born !!

I remember the 12" of Wishing , well over 9 minutes long !! Ahhh , the old 12" days. There is a best of CD out (with the extended version of wishing) available at Amazon UK , well worth the money

I used to do my hair the same as his,how sad is that,my poor hair all that hairspray and gel and sugar water,after that it was pete burns hair long crimped and stuck up at the front.But "wishing" gotta be the song of the 80s for me.
