What would be a good choice of opera music to listen to? I fancy a change and could do with a little help.

Mozart is quite a popular one to listen to - quite light hearted, easy to listen to and very melodic.
If you get the chance two operas that are very short and normally done together are "pagliacci" and "cavalera rusticana" don't know if they are spelt correctly there the intermetzo in rusticana makes me cry and I am a 6ft building worker another wonderful opera is Carmen yhe nice thing with that one is you will know a lot of the music,I don't understand a lot of the words but I find some of it wonderful, although some is very heavy going,it might also be nice just to listen to a cd of Andrea Bocelli or Katherine Jenkins,or even the opera babes
I agree with Rosy - and would suggest The Magic Flute (Zauberflte) as a starter.
