It sounds like "Carol of the Bells" to me. This is a traditional Ukrainian Christmas carol which is very popular in the USA, but much less familiar in the UK. I am 95% sure it is in "Home Alone", and it is often featured in Christmas editions of US TV shows too.

Carmina Burana by Carl Orff is the usual suspect (excuse spellings) first used in The Omen and/or Old Spice adverts. I suppose both could be referred toas "horror".........
