The music used for Rhea's secret meetings with Leonard is Samuel Barber's 'Adagio For Strings'. The music captures perfectly the whistful romance of the setting, and matches the visual imagary of the huge white building (representing Rhea's marriage) and the tiny bandstand next to it where she sits with Leonard (her cladestine friendship) in the park. A further use of poignat music is the scene when Rea and Ben drive away from their home separately, each listening to The Righteous Brothers' 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling', and each of them in turn decides the song is speaking to them, and they each turn off their car radios. Classic television - they really don't make them like that any more!
The music is very popular, and can be found on a number of classical compilation CD's.
