does anybody remember the minipops LP that was out in the 80's, i remember one of the songs went- sittin' in the back seat kissin' and a huggin' with Fred- and another was- sweet talkin' guy oooh oooh oooh oooh talkin sweet kinda lies oooh- dont let him under your skin cause you'll never win- i think thats what the words were im not sure. any one remember them? does anyone know if you can still get ur hands on any of there songs?

http://www.popcultureaddict.com/music/minipops .htm Halfway down the page is some news of them, I remember them, was there not some problem with all the make-up that was said to sexualise them and it was too provocative to portray children like that, there was a bit of controversy at the time, and it was taken off air, or they stopped making the programmes because of that.

Their version of "I Love Rock'n'Roll" knocks spots off Joan Jett's version. Anyway, I think the perception of the show had a lot to do with it being on Channel 4 - remember back in the early days the tabloids would seize upon any stick with which to beat Channel 4, it was seen as the station for minorities (in the tabloids' eyes, undesirables) like gay people, black people, disabled people, left-wing people, people with one eye slightly bigger than the other... Minipops was cheap rubbish - but it was only innocent dressing-up into which the tabloid press read sexual subtext because it suited their purpose of criticising Channel 4 at every opportunity. If it had been on another channel, nobody would have cared.
