He did a version of "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on earth" with Bing Crosby in the 70's, that was quite odd.

Hi Ermadea - Thanks, no, he played with a band. I was aware of the Crosby item and he sang on that....
Could be Jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam? It was also covered by Nirvana when they did an acoustic set for MTV in New York.

Hi, I am now told the answer is the band Bowie played with was Steeleye Span...played saxaphone on their version of "To Know Him Is To Love Him." Positively puts the "Laughing Gnome" into the category status of Nobel Prize for Literature.
