'Techno Boys and New Beat Girls'...who did this please??
Wonder if anyone can help me with this late 80s club tune? The 'techno boys and new beat girls' female vocal is what I remember most clearly. Bit Latin, very atmospheric, have seen on another forum that it had some real old skool samples on including the Shaft 'waa-waa' and 'work' from LNR's 'Work It To The Bone'. (They couldn't manage to pin it down on that forum though). It's such a nostalgic tune for me but my memory of it now is hazy as you can tell...I've not heard it for nearly twenty years and would love just to find out who did it. Thanks
Matt

If so, that would be "Mental" by Manic MC's featuring Sara Carlson. Dunno if you can get it anywhere these days, though, I love it (cheesy though it is) but it seems no-one from from you and me remembers it nowadays. I'm trying out Audacity for the first time this week so if you can't find it I might try ripping from the vinyl and sticking it online somewhere.
Thank you both so much for getting back to me on this one, I've been a bit of a music freak for a lot of my life so ones like this that I can't pin down become disproportionately frustrating!!
Jenstar, it WAS Manic MC's ft Sara Carlson! Nice work!! I also came across it on vinylsearcher.com where it is still available, so I shall definitely buy it. It was just one of those hugely atmospheric club tunes from the late 80s (like 'Big Fun' or 'This Brutal House' ) that really take you back, and I'm glad you like it too : )
