Christmas song
I would like to write a new, lush xmas song. All the current ones are about bells, holly and jesus. Then there's Wizard and Mariah. How about a new, really lovely song? In the 70s practically every group issued a xmas album. Nobody seems to anymore!
I can write the tune.. would anyone like to write the lyrics? xxx

I'm working on the ingredients and the formula.
So far I've got :-
Snow
Tinsel
Bells
Childrens chior
Snowman
Santa
Reindeer
'Twas 'Twas 'Twas
Holly
Mistletoe
Presents
Log Fire
Egg Nog
Crackers
Star In East
Three Wise Men
George Formby
Now I probably need a few more then I can start mixing them into the song pot.

Marvelman, what has that got to do with anything? It's a perfectly nice question about a Cristmas song but somebody just can't resist jumping on the "We hate Muslims" bandwagon. I wish these narrow minded prats would change the record, or take it to a section / thread where someone is interested.
Theland - Egg Nog and Fire (log) rhyme - maybe that is a starting point ;-)
Or "It's that time of year" - rhymes with reindeer.
I'll stand in the background jungling some bells, it's bound to get to number one that way. We can shoot the video wearing fluffy coats and chucking fake snow at eachother, having a grand old time :-)

I was under the impression that a lot of muslims in this country were quite pro-christmas. Islam recognises Jesus as a prophet. A very devout muslim colleague of mine does mark Christmas in her own way, even though she doesn't believe Jesus was the messiah or anything like that. and i notice Theland's list is entirely secular.
Gonna do a song - TWO things. The feast you refer celebrates birth of Christ...which is not the same as X. It is offensive to the Christian tradition to substitute X for Christ.
My music taste ranges from Bing Crosby to the Sex Pistols. Favourite Christmas songs include White Christmas by Bing Crosby, Little Drummer Boy by Johnny Cash, Fairytale of New York by Shane McGowan/Pogues with Kirsty McColl and The Rebel Jesus by Jackson Browne with The Chieftains. For a touch of heresy there's always Star of Bethlehem by Neil Young with Emmylou Harris.
