a song for you - donny or christina??
My Step Daughter has discovered "A Song For You" by Christina Aguilera. I played her Donny Hathaways version, but she still says the CA version is better!! Am I just an old Codger, holding on to my glory days! Or do I still have an ear for a good singer? Surely, Mr Hathaways version is far superior. Please vote accordingly.
P.S. For those of you who don't know the song - try you Tube & listen too both versions

I've never heard Christina Aguilera's version, nor would I ever want to.
The song was originally written and performed by Leon Russell which was a quirky version, but Donny Hathaway (at the risk of using a phrase too often used on the X-Factor) made it his own by putting the soul into it.
The song has been covered many times over the years with most of the artists copying Donny's soulful version (most notably Simply Red's carbon-copy) and I'll bet Christina's version follows this pattern.
