they all sound the same - so how do I TRULY define the difference between Acid House, Hardcore, Rave etc.etc, and what and when where they truly founded?

I teach music technology students, and they would be able to tell you the exact differences! Best bet is to go to a club and chat to the DJ. He/she will know all the answers!
