I think you're talking about 'Candy' by Ash, off their 'Free All Angels' album. The chorus to that song is "Don't you know that it's all right to be alone? / You can make it on your own," and it has a sample from the Walker Brothers track 'Make It Easy On Yourself' which is the violin you can hear.
