I'm guessing here, but could it be "Lullaby" by Shawn Mullins? It has lyrics along the lines of, "all her friends tell her she's so pretty, She'd be a whole lot prettier if she smiled once in a while," and "Her folks threw great parties, everyone was there, people like Dennis Hopper, Ginger Rogers and Sonny and Cher."
