Who, in your opinion, is the best live act you've ever seen?  And who, dead or alive, would you like to see?

Saw Queen 11 times (with Freddie, of course, as there is no Queen without him) - absolutely unforgettable!!  Kiss in the early days put on a heck of a show; even if you didn't like their music, there was never a dull moment.  Worst shows I've seen were the Cars - they just stood there and played, didn't talk or move.  Might've well have sent cardboard cutouts of themselves around the country with an accompanying tape.  And I saw Springsteen on his "Born in the USA" tour and was never so bored in my life.  Big deal, so he tells long, rambling stories before his songs.  Still a huge yawn.

Hate to be really obvious, but I would love to see the Beatles.  I was 8 when they split, so there was no chance of me seeing them.  Once John was killed that really was the end of any real chance of a Beatles reformation.  It would never really be the Beatles without him.

One of the best live shows I have ever seen was by 70s-80s MOR / pop group The Dooleys.  They were one of the best club / cabaret acts over the 2 decades and did a superb show.  It was never quite the same when 3 of the members left in 1982, then 3 more left in 1985 leaving just 2 originals.  Saying that, Jim and Kathy Dooley still put on a great show.

I would love to see them again, though they "retired" in 1992.  Jim now runs a charity supplying motorised wheelchairs and Kathy is married to actor Andrew Mackintosh (DS Greig from The Bill).

Finally, Earth Wind and Fire.  I would love to see founder of the group  Maurice White back in the touring band.  EWF still do a great show, but there is one element missing, and that is Maurice.  He has not toured with them for a few years due to ill health, but still does most of the studio work.  Last year they released an album called "The Promise" and there should be a new album next year.

Madness are without doubt the best I've ever seen. Everybody totally into it and knows it all. Another really good live band that would probably surprise alot of people are The Proclaimers. If you ever get a chance to see them I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

I would really have liked to have seen The Who in their heyday or The Jam.

Starting off with the Eighties The Police and The Jam were superb(saw both twice).  In the Nineties the best live acts I saw were Simple Minds and Simply Red.  U2(Roundhay Park Leeds) were a bit of a let down at the time though they look back to their best again and in the Noughties(2000 to present) the best I've seen so far are Coldplay and Feeder. Saw the Stereophonics recently but weren't that good. Missed the Manics last time round but hope to catch them soon.

For solo acts Billy Joel in the Eighties was superb and I recently saw Alexander O'Neal who was awsome though I would say that as I'm a diehard fan of his.

Ouisch   Queen 11 times - and I never saw them once! Funnily enough I only became a real Queen fan in the nineties.  Now I think that Freddy was a real genius and get very emotional when I think of him.

Gromit - I saw The Finn Brothers in Oxford on 31st October.  I love Tim, he's fab on stage and worth going to watch him alone.  He really lifted the crowd and you could see he loved every minute.

Also, FP I saw Radiohead at South Park in Oxford, a huge outdoor event and they were amazing.  My friend and I managed to wangle two press passes as well, so we were right close.

As a bit of side info, Thom Yorke and his bro Colin went to school in the town where I grew up.  It's a posh boys only school.  Although they'd have been leaving school as I started.

Also Mauro Picotto and Judge Jules were amazing.  I'd love to see Carl Cox, I'd think he'd be fab too.
Loved to have seen the good old Frank S, saw the Verve who were good at Leeds Reading and RATM where awesome.

I have only been to one concert last year with eminem, cypress hill, xibit etc and didn't think a huge amount to htat loved the atmosphere though. I am more of a dance festival goer, Creamfields was absoloutly amazin and i can't wait for next years, the love parade was one i will also be unable to forget. I would love to go see bon jovi or the chillies one day though.........

Pink Floyd in Paris 1994....amazing weather for an outdoor gig (Lightning a few miles away but dry and warm at the gig) superb sound and light show.

Totally impossible but I would love to have seen one of my gigs with my band as you never really ever get to hear what you sound like.

Natalie.  My son was at that South Park event.  He wouldn't give me one of the spare tickets and took a friend instead.  Now why wouldn't a 20 year old want his mother camping with him for the weekend?!
U2 - brilliant!!! Robbie fantastic!!!! Sterephonics fab!!!! Duran brill!!! Let you know about Oasis and Elton next year!!! Would love to have seen Queen and Elvis!
Muse are outstanding live I have seen them twice, I would love to see Pearl Jam- that's my ambition!

FP, I live about a 10 min bus journey/ half hour walk away from my house.  They're massive in Oxford, the support bands were amazing too.  It was piddling down with rain and we were frozen and soaked to the bone but it was fantastic.  They sang Creep at the end as well, which is something, as you probably know, they vowed they'd never do as they feel that "that's the song that made them famous".  It was magic :)

I don't live half an hour away from my house, my house is that far away from the Park!!

The best was Chris De Burg, many years ago.

The worst was Ultravox so wooden no audience interaction, on play and go with no encore!

Natalie.  My friend's son lives in Oxford and plays in an Oxford band.  I can't remember their name but I think they are pretty good.  He is in his late 30's.  He got to mix with Radiohead behind the scenes at the South Park gig.  He tried to get my son 'backstage' as well, but it proved impossible.
the best live band is queen i have seen them 10 times (freddie is the nuts)
