how to download music

Having purchased a Nano Ipod I have today tried to download music from HMV. Having followed the very sparce instructions and plugged the Ipod into the computer, it downloaded but did not get onto the Ipod! What's gone wrong here - can anyone help me to sort this out. Thanks in advance.

I believe you have to download music via i tunes

Yes go to apple.co.uk and download itunes. The software is free but you have to pay for tracks or albums. When you have downloaded the software you can also load your cd's onto itunes and put them onto your ipod too. Have fun!
