I think its Cloud`s across the moon.......................... By The Rah Band hope this help`s
76-79 is a bit early for Clouds Across The Moon, but check it out anyway. 99% of half-remembered old songs are either Tom's Diner ("do do do do"), Duel ("the first cut won't hurt at all"), or Clouds Across The Moon (misc. space references), and this clearly isn't either of the first two.

Automatic Lover by D.D Jackson - 1978/79? Some futuristic robot-spoken bits: "I-am -your -automatic -lover".

Hot Gossip - I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper (78) or Sheila B. Devotion Spacer (79/80) - neither had spoken bits though.

Clouds across the Moon was 1985.

Apart from the dates, it does sound like Clouds Across the Moon.
Could it be SPACER - Shiela B Devotion ?
What about the Carpenters "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" released 1977.
