Morning Ladies (and Gents I suppose). Need a little bit of advice on what to wear.

I have this dress to wear for a wedding this weekend and our work xmas part next weekend:

I want something I can cover my shoulders with if I feel I want to so would you chose a shrug or a pashmina maybe? What do you think would go well with it?

That's a fab dress, milly.

Very classic ... a bit "Audrey Hepburn".

You'll look great.

With a clean, classic dress like that, you can get away with anything. A pashmina may be your best bet, because they are cosy, and you could mix any colour with that dress.

Thanks Jayne, I love the dress and I managed to get it for only £20. When I got home and tried it on with my shoes my b/f said I looked stunning. Was very happy! So just need the little extra bits to go with it now.

Would you go with a different colour pashmina or a black one?
Lovely dress milly....where did you go in the end Watford or Reading?
are you wearing the black one ? pashmina.

Yeah, I have the black dress, with black shoes and a black clutch bag.

Barb, I managed to get it in House of Fraser in Aylesbury in the end which is only 20 minutes away from where I live.
Yeah similar to the one B00 picked:

plain black would not work as it would blend in too much, you need a bit of detail to silouhette the line of the dress
I like that one Dot...

B00, that's a gorgeous shrug. Sadly when it costs 3 x more than the dress did, I think I'll have to look at my other options first. :o(
lol, sorry milly, I just Googled shrugs and that was what popped up first- I fell in love.

Oohh Dotty, that's really nice! And the price is right too!

Agree about the plain thing. I have a plain black shrug but did think it would make it look a bit dowdy.
Go for a colour.

You might find a warm "wintery" colour, like a deep red, or a holly green.

And don't "over-accessorize" with a dress like that. It has the bows, and the gathered waist. Those are pretty, but subtle. Too many accessories will draw the attention away from those details, and the effect might turn from "classic" to "glitzy".

In that dress, you will look very sophisticated, so your accessories should be kept under-stated.

And well done for getting an even better price! We should all take you with us when we go shopping. You seem to have an eye for a classy bargain.
Definitely a shrug.......they are in at the moment BUT..what colour are you accessories?
lovely dress. but think you will need a thermal vest under it.!
with that dress havin a balcony line a shrig will accentuate your assets too
Gawd I miss working in fashion : (

Nah Anne, I'm just planning on drinking enough wine to block out the feeling of cold.

Appreciate the male feedback Sqad! Shall mostly be going for silver jewellery. I have a tiffany style heart necklace which I wear every day and think I might just keep that on - don't want to go OTT.

Jayne, good advice. I don't want to ruin it by trying too hard. Wish I could say I was a mean negotiator but they just had a special offer in House of Fraser yesterday, I was just lucky! :o)
Beautiful dress which would look lovely with a shrug.

Being under 8" or so of snow at the moment. I would need to accessorise with a fabulous pair of pink fur lined wellies and a huge fake fur coat!!

Will a shrug be enough for the wedding? It's very cold!! Mind you thinking back to when I was young.................... cold didn't deter me from fashion!!
OK...I agree with JJ.

NOT just black. Black and silver OR better still........RED.

Do you require any advice on your underwear? that is where I score heavily.;-)
I never expected you on a fashion thread Sqad, but now I see why you came on board............................ ;o)
