Cozy Powell? he wasn't, his first hit was about 1975, he did a few gigs before then but he wasn't a ROCK N ROLLER
yes you're right Jan, I didn't google it. Fallible memory and all that...
which bit do i read that says he was a 60s rock and roll star? I
You've lost me there, sir.prize- unless you are also now following the mischievous practice of including an error in your post as some questioners have been known to do
Tell me why you are confused factor
Billy the Bustard misjudged the height of a branch.
... I'm confused because the only decades I can see mentioned in the BBC article relate to the 70s and the 80s.
Maybe handling puzzlking123's posts has addled my brain but i can't see a reference to the 60s. In fact, as he was born in 1948 he'd have only been 17 in the mid 60s
"I was staying at my mates in Richmond and drove past the tree Marc Bolan hit."

phew, narrow escape, dotty?
dont care the answer is still Eddie Cochrane
Eddie Cochran's taxi collided with a lamp-post not a tree and it was not in Bristol, but in Chippenham, Wiltshire - a different county.
It was actually the little known session guitarist Barque Mollon. His demise was spoonerised from the front pages by something about cooking fat.
Perhaps we should ask puzzleking123 to be the final arbiter on this.

Of course there could be an error in the question or it needs clarification.
Was the person famous in mid 1960s or is that when they died?
Maybe the person who died was in their mid 60s?
Was it Bristol? Some posters do sometimes get key elements wrong in questions.
Did they die or was it actally just a scratched bumper?

We need the king of puzzles!
Why is everyone assuming that ''hitting a tree'' involves a mode of transport.

It could easily have been a hippy who died after a rather vigorous tree-hugging session.
... or maybe their hitting a tree an dtheir dying were unrelated- maybe they hit a tree in the mid 60s but were unharmed and then died of a drugs overdose or liver failure in 2001.

A number of posters seem adamant it was Eddie Cochrane but he died in 1960 which certainly isn't the mid 60s. he hit a lamppost not a tree. And it was in Chippenham which i don't think is in Bristol is it?

We need puzzleking123!
... like a fish needs a bicycle, apparently.
Was it The Bachelors? You know, dem tree fellers from Oirland.
factor30 if you are waiting for Puzzleking to come back on why dont we find something interesting to do in the meantime like wait for Santa to come back
