I have gone as far as nailing down a piece of corrugated iron that flaps around on a shed adjoining the house and have undertaken a modification to enable me to close the barn doors to keep our alpacas, horses and goat safe and out of the wind. We have many trees on a virtual cliff face to the rear of us and if they blow down they will land on our house from quite a height.

I've disabled all news channels and cancelled the papers.
Picked the remaining apples and put extra lashings on my radio mast which is in range of a greenhouse should it fall.
It won't turn on Tony :(

I made sure the batteries are in the right way, those big D ones, and switched them round just in case but nothing!

I'm thinking it's that well known technical fault, cheapopoundshopitis.
Good point douglas, they will have a field day with this storm.
Oo hope you get through unscathed Ratter....you'll have to move into the log cabin if anything happens !
does buying an extra two pints of milk count?
Ive tied the canopy down on my swing bench in the garden.
Ah right then Eve, have you made sure that the bulb is in properly ?.

Eve, if your torch wont work, ask everybody in the room to raise a hand in the air, your torch should then work. Many hands make light work!! Boom boom :-)
Tools, Lawn mower, bbq, loads of crap all put away. Gates left open as they are square on to the SW. New batteries for the radio in, large torch charged, candles out, mater fed - or just about to be. Probably a few other things like fuel stored in the back of the car....the one thing outstanding being that I need to pick up medication for the mother in the morning.....
Haha :) Too bad it's just me here then, unless you count the hedgehog!

Umm, it's one of those ceiling like lightbulbs, can't think what they are called now! The ones that go in spotlight type light fittings that are a pain in the arse to get in. I'm not sure if it comes out!
Good luck DT and hope you get through the night unscathed.
thanks seadogg, the concern I have is that we are the last on the phone line and 3rd last on the tricity (though they upgraded the wires into the house this year -however, it comes through quite a few trees).

The seas at Perranporth were really running earlier.....what they will be like by high tide, well.....that's at about 11pm.
used paper bedding scrunched, empty plastics, garden trims & wood offcuts in fireplace at the ready with more wood stacked nearby - woe betide any spiders looking to roast their tootsies ;)
Bayonet or screw fit, Eve ?.
Getting bit wild here now...wet and windy !
I'm not sure, it looks sealed it, probably to con you out of shelling out another quid on a new one (if the one you buy actually works!).

You can't really return it to the pound shop tough can you, sounds a bit cheap :)

I have a lantern on charge so got that as a back up. Was hoping to have the torch upstairs, especially as me and stairs don't really go together very well but will download a flashlight app on my phone. Off to watch a programme but will have another fiddle in a bit (driven me mad, at risk of it being thrown at something :)). Will see what I can manage later, thanks for your help x
Good idea that ( flash light app ) Eve.
All this talk of power cuts made me go and find a torch. Having found it I tripped over the step and went A over T. My knees are all grazed now. Whose bloody idea was it to find a torch.
lol Jeza
