Obviously it ain't going to happen. A terrorist organisation doesn't form to chuck it all in voluntarily.
Debates should be conducted more calmly than that, as I'm sure most must feel that the average Palestinian on the street isn't going to be a member of Hamas, and are now in an awful position, herded into areas that are now being attacked. They won't so much care who is the cause, just that they are in danger.
On the other side one can not see the Israelis stopping since they have clearly decided that this situation is going to be stopped once and for all, regardless of the cost. To get almost there and fail in their aim would be worse than not bothering. The situation would just return and all the killing on both sides be in vain.
Neither side can be proud of their past behaviour, just hope or pray it's at an end soon. We need existing conflicts to end before others spring up; and there seems plenty awaiting their turn.
