Train driver nearly killed

I was reading my local newspaper online and stumbled across this, ithink its absolutely disgusting and i really cannot believe what this world is coming to, it makes me feel really sad that this poor man was doing nothing but just earning a living for himself and as a result of this he is almost killed and in hospital over christmas. What are all of your views on this?

I never saw this, but I live in Essex, I drive Underground trains, but the line I work on is more in the open, i've had a bullet come through my cab window, and before they covered the bridges, we used to cover our heads as we went under them.

This sort of thing is all too prevalent all over the country, and its been going on for far too long,

Also, objects are often placed on the tracks, its a wonder that no-one was seriously injured before this, it'll happen again.

My thought are with this chap and his family, I just hope his train company look after him.

As for the people who did this, not neccessarily, but probably youths, I don't know what can be done, if they are caught, they should be made to go to this chaps house to see first hand what they've done.

I totally agree with you the youths should be made to see what they have done and should be given harsh punishment. the punishment in this country is so soft no wonder people do these things as they have no fear plus if they are under 16 nothing drastic will be done about it so people like this just hit again and again.
I always wanted to be a train driver but it doesnt seem worth the risk anymore

Maybe we should put CCTV cameras on bridges spanning the railways. And while we are at it also put them on motorway bridges.

Yes thats a good idea and also maybe something under the bridge to catch anything that is thrown over?

Why aren't the yobs terrified of doing this? Ask the politicians ... again!

The sad thing is that the people that did this was probably doing it for fun!
