Is his posing with pints a pretence? I'm reminded of Wilson who smoked a pipe in public but really enjoyed fine cigars when out of the view of the press cameras.
Farage was a wealthy stock broker before he went into politics. Would he not be the type of chap who'd enjoy a fine claret rather than a gassy pint?

Sandy, are you implying that the "upper classes" don't drink beer?
at four quid a pint in a pub they're the only ones that can afford to
He's a politician.
He was privately educated at Dulwich college and was a Commodities trader. Like all politicians he is power hungry and will do anything to convince his potential working class voters to put their 'x' next to his candidate's names. Although, to be fair, he does have a 'local' (The Blacksmith's arms) but I'm not sure what he drinks in there.
Why the persistent myth that he was a Stockbroker? He was a metals trader
I have always thought the contents of his glass was real ale. But it never looks a very nice pint as the glass is always clean on the inside of the half empty glass. So I think he is phoney.

Barnaclebill, scrap iron on the back of a flatbed lorry?
Who can forget William Hague in a baseball cap drinking a pont trying to convince the public that he was, 'down wiv de kids' and hip, do me a favour!!!
Tony Benn was fond of his pipe as well. Gone are the days when you could light up in the TV studio. If you look at some very old recordings of What's My Line? you can hardly see Gilbert Harding for the wreaths of smoke.
I think he's sponsored by Green King IPA - mind it's not a bad pint!

Would the redacted bit there ^ have had him scurrying of to Sue, Grabbit, and Run, the libel lawyers?
He was a 17 year old schoolboy. Nothing new in that. At university we often spouted extreme right wing sentiments with the sole aim of winding up the lefties. We didn't mean a word of what we said.
>with the sole aim of winding up the lefties<

Well, that is troubling.

How much of this forum's traffic is just the righties winding up the lefties, and vice versa?

How can anyone know what anyone else really thinks, if it's all wind-ups, these days?

I confess, I like to try and tease the goodly unGodly in R&S. But everything else I post is straight from the heart.
@ SandyRoe

You mean that you post a lot of blood?

Sandy, you had me fooled, I really thought that you believed in god. The scales have fallen from my eyes.
Hypo, I think he means that he doesn't think about what he posts..
