The cowardice of put current PM apparently knows no bounds. From the BBC website:
Johnson cancels event due to protest
Alex Forsyth

Political correspondent

Boris Johnson has pulled out of a planned campaign visit to a bakery in Glastonbury due to an unexpected protest at the venue.

Mr Johnson was due to visit Burns the Bread as part of his trip to the South West, but plans were changed after a group including climate change activists, anti-Brexit protesters and someone holding a Labour placard gathered at the only entrance to the business.

It’s understood the visit was cancelled due to security concerns on the advice of police.

Mr Johnson is expected to continue the rest of the planned itinerary.

When you consider the only British Prime Minister to be assassinated was back in 1812 the Metropolitan Police Special Branch have a pretty good track record, thus far, in keeping our Prime Ministers safe.
Quite a few of personages I protected over here whilst on state or official visits were assassinated on return to their own country ( Indira Ghandi, her son Rajiv, Benazir Bhutto etc so the Prime Minister was wise to heed the advice given
Retro, it’s a pity you were not transferred with the assassinated ones. You may have changed history .;-)

I'm still waiting for him to lie down in front of the bulldozers at Heathrow as he promised to do. He'll probably renege on that promise (as on all his others) and blame Parliament as per his usual excuse.
I began to be known as 'the kiss of death' amongst my colleagues. It was getting embarrassing. :-(
A few more than that in my link Gromit, but I don't think the Police would have been unable to keep control..
Who remembers George Brown, one time Foreign Secretary under Harold Wilson? He came here during an election campaign and made a speech whilst stood on what looked like an orange box. Plenty of heckling and shouting from the locals. How times change. Wanting to shy away from the public is now seen as "taking security advice from the Police"
yep it's another belter from Tweedle dumber! what degree did you say you had again?
I recall George Brown very well. He was permanently p...sed. They had to invent a term for his drunken faux pas. I think they described him ‘as tired’.
He demolished his neighbours wall in St Johns Wood with his Roller( labour?) whilst behind the wheel and rat faced. He was a national embarrassment like Junker.
Thanks Mamyalynne

That young woman with “what’s the Plan? On climate change” looked particularly nasty. The Police would have had to have cancelled all leave, get the water cannon out, and do their best kettling, just to keep her under control.
"Tired & emotional", was the description I remember for George
Regardless as to whether the police overreacted, it would not be doing a PM any favours to ignore their advice and tell them where to go!
Police numbers have been cut so severely, that they are now no long able to protect our loved Prime Minister from a bunch of Greta Thunberg’s and their adorable badly hand painted placards.
Yes NellieMay. Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread just about sums up diddlydoo's approach. :-(
Trouble is some of the moronic Labour supporters who try to ridicule our current PM have very short memories. How quickly they forget one of their own. Remember Joe Cox diddlydo? Always best to play safe eh.
You know it makes sense but there again perhaps not. They walk among us. :-(
Jo Cox wasn’t electioneering, she was in her constituency doing her job.
She was cowardly attacked by a far right Britain First thug who stabbed and shot her multiple times.

The ducking out of a photo op by Boris, and Cox being hacked to death are not at all comparable situations.
This OP is as daft as diddlydo's claim that anyone who can't cook isn't fit to be Prime Minister.
Gromit
Are you daft enough to assume that Ministers who are entitled to protection attend a venue 'cold'. PMs,ex PMs and Home Secretarys are entitled to close personal protection and back-up protection. The PMs protection team will recce a venue before a visit.Just before the Principle rocks up there will be a back up team mingling in the reception committee and assessing any likely hostiles. If there are those who arouse suspicion they will be closely moniterd and a sit rep radioed to the approaching close prpotection officer and his Principal. On good professional advice it is then when a visit is aborted. Also rans and shadow cabinet ministers do not have the advantage of that advice where ever they go.That includes ex Royal Princesses. :-(
