Does Boris Johnson Remain The Best Leader To Head The Government And Fight The Next Election?
A letter in this morning's Telegraph:
'SIR – The parliamentary Conservative Party and its followers should be careful. A Conservative government has two main functions: to govern the country to the best of its ability, and to protect the country from the threat of socialism.
The noise from Labour, the Lib Dems and the SNP, coupled with hysteria from the BBC, ITV and Sky News, should awaken the Conservative Party to the perils of a witch-hunt of Boris Johnson.
Yes, his ability to control civil service “social” events in No 10 is unacceptable at best, but in 2024 he should still be a vote-winner, and I fail to see any other candidate who can protect the country from Jeremy Corbyn Mark 2.'

On my advice they held their noses as they did it - but they did it nonetheless because he was the only one who promised to uphold the result of a democratic vote. Who would have trusted Corbyn to deliver? And I've never forgotten the LidDem's mantra, '*** to Brexit'. There's democracy for you!

It doesn't really matter who leads the Tories, Labour won't win, end of.
——-
But they stand a better chance of seats if Boris is in charge
That is why a few weeks ago most in the Tory party knew that regardless of the Gray report Boris cannot be in charge for the next GE and will need to be gone in 12 months
The public are fed up of Boris and his shenanigans now
He has gone from class clown to schoolyard bully

I'm sorry to inform you Sticky that you seem to be out of step, not only with the mood of this thread, but of the country as well. D.Davis seems to have shot himself in the foot, and the gesture crossover politician is now persons non grata, both in the House & in his constituency.
I sense Boris will be around for some time yet, & as for a Labour government ? I think you too might be in for the long haul.

burlyshirley /So he told lies, all MP's and PM's do at some point, it's the nature of the beast ! He's not murdered anyone, he's not a paedo and he's kind to animals and he got Brexit done ! For me, I prefer him to any other tory MP at present and yes, it is a witch hunt and I've said that before./
Thanks Shirley you've saved me from having to post very much the same!!

Sticky; Well the Guardian would say something like that wouldn't they?
Silly little vox pop polls conducted by lefty journos are meaningless, the really important issue is to do with marginal seats & that does not favour Labour at the moment.
What you have to do is step back & look at the larger existential problems for Labour as outlined in here;

Yes Khandro I guess they would
Especially as the person they got their information from is head of Grassroots Tories :
From the link
Ed Costelloe, chairman of Grassroots Conservatives, said it had been years since the group last polled its supporters and followers but it felt compelled by the “unique” nature of the public mood.
“Obviously nobody is happy. There is massive anger, absolutely. And justifiably,” said Costelloe, adding that most people said they had written to their MP or local party branch to express their opinion. “But some people said this is not necessarily the time to change the captain on the bridge. A lot of people have said they think he should go, but not yet.”
You really must stop putting your foot in your mouth Khandro
You will have no teeth left at this rate ! Lol
