You mess with a bull, you get the horns. You mess with the bear, the claws. The US will prod and leave. The mess, well, someone else’s problem. We should keep well clear of this one…….But of course we won’t.

//The Will of the People is to not get involved.//

How do you know what the will of the people is in this instance? It.really.has nothing whatsoever to do with Brexit.
I see the gobbledegook generator is at it again. Would the Editor of this site care to explain why I am dragged into a thread that I have no previous input with reference that is a lie? Maybe one of the site officials would like to explain why the chemically imbalanced are allowed to make deliberately untrue and damaging statements like the one at 14.42. Putin is a gangster and his mob are intent on enriching themselves at any cost ... all yours. Khandro unfortunately for him, at this time, lives in Germany. Germany at the moment is like a rabbit in the headlights as events almost mirror the ones generated by Hitler and supported at the time by most Germans.

Togo; There is another thread on this subject,
https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1782948.html
please see my posts particularly the penultimate one on the thread (at the moment) which was at 11:14 this morning, Fri.

I may live in Germany, but I am not responsible for its, or the EU's actions, but what you need to be aware of is there is a marked difference in outlook between people living on an island as you do, to those living in countries with land borders, eg. Ukraine/Russia.
Germany btw has land borders with 11 countries.

Yes, Khandro, I realised that difference when we lived in France.
My post was not a criticism of your good self Khandro. It was merely meant to explain the apparent inertia and 1000 yard stare that the German authorities appear to have adopted. How would free elections in Ukraine, as a whole, decide which way to turn? Is your good lady herself, in any sense, of Russian extraction or persuasion?
// but what you need to be aware of is there is a marked difference in outlook between people living on an island as you do//

Strange how our "awareness" of being an Island Nation is used as a stick to beat us in all instances that benefit us, or if it is deployed to negate a massive land mass threat warning. Once again as the European war drums beat we are being urged to forget that we are an Island or to somehow feel ashamed of it.
One thing i know is that Britain should stay well clear of it.Twice last century Britain got involved in saving Europe.Never got any thanks for it.Treated with contempt more like. No,sorry,no more British involvement in European wars.
//Twice last century Britain got involved in saving Europe.//

As well as in the Century before. France has never been able to look us in the eye since.
I am a wee bit angry, toga.Us Brits are always looked upon to come to the defence of poor wee nations being threatened by bigger nations.Once we save these wee nations they dont want to know us.Kaiser Bill had no problems with us,Schicklegruber was a bad bas**rd,(and we did right in the end by destroying the anti-semitic bas**rd)but as far as i know he didnt want to go to war with us.Russia was his main enemy.Nah,Britain should stay neutral in this one.
It’s been a long day (!)

Because of this thread, last night I wanted to look up something to do with the region under discussion, I opened an old-ish atlas: 'Philips Illustrated. (pub. 1988)', and guess what? no 'Ukraine', not in the index & not on any of the maps.

Kiev is there of course, being a major city of the USSR - and was once, long before Moscow, the Russian capital.

There is really no proper Ukrainian language, with most of the population speaking Russian & a mixed dialectic version of Russian & Polish - everyone understands Russian, & many millions want to be aligned with Russia,

Is it any wonder that Vladimir Putin once said, "The collapse of the USSR was the greatest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century",
& can you begin understand how he feels about the encroachment of NATO troops & weapons into the region & right up the new Russian doorstep?
This is well worth a quick scan through if you want to understand the background of Ukraine. It has always been a Slavic state and was invaded by Mongols, Muslims, and Vikings from the year dot. THe Ukraine declared itself independant in 1918 and was considered so until the Germans rolled through in WW2. The Russians after defeating the germans on their own soill chased them all the way back home, through the Ukraine, and would not go back home. They needed it as protection, as they claimed, against any future German aggression. Give up the Ukraine Germany, and then give back East Germany.
yna//.No,sorry,no more British involvement in European wars.//
Have you forgotten Hitler's plan tro invade England?
//Operation Sealion was the code name for Nazi Germany's planned invasion of Britain. It was supposed to take place in September 1940 //
All those posters saying we should not get involved.

Do you think we leave NATO ?
-- answer removed --
This thread has got very silly :-)

togs 20:19, you're lucky I'm not even allowed to complain about the post at 12:55.
Gromit:

Do you think the British PM’s forthcoming visit to “E Europe” is likely to achieve anything other than give him the opportunity to ride a tank in Estonia?
I ask you in particular because you appear to be the only sensible person left on this (!)
TORATORATORA, the "offending" post appears to have been removed, move on.
