Libya - Arming the rebels?

I wonder what reaction there would be if Russia boosted the arms of the Libya regime. Don't think it could happen?

It could happen, but I doubt it, thing is, the west shouldn't arm the rebels, because thats exactly what they are.

Unless of course the goalposts have sefinately changed, and the ultimate goal is regime change, in which case, Gaddafi has to die, along with his sons, because otherwise they'll be a constant.

The whole thing is a complete mess, and we shouldn't have got involved

What's special about selling arms to the rebels ? Russia and us like all arms suppliers has an arsenal of obsolete weapons which it wants to sell. If the rebels have the money or goods that Russia wants they will sell them.

If they want to continue there fight with Gaddafi i feel they will have to.

With Russia taking a more Pro Gaddafi, is it possible we could end you with a more vietnam, 6 day war between Israel and Egypt type affair? As in 'The West' support/fund/arm one side and Russia support/fund/arm the other.
