Offensive or not? Was the landlord being a prude here? Do you cringe when you see gays kissing in public?

i don't pda's whatever type of relationship
I cringe when I see ANYBODY snogging in public. And I'd prefer to see two gay guys kissing than two straight guys beating the crap out of each other.
Wouldn't bother me. The question is would a hetero couple have also been asked to leave...
If people aren't allowed to smoke in pubs because some people find it offensive then the same principle should apply to people snogging in pubs.
Smoking damages people's health, watching other people kiss doesn't! The landlord in question did say he would have thrown out any couple doing the same but a bit difficult to prove whether he actually would or not!
People can't smoke in pubs because it's against the law.

Well I've never been the victim of passive gay kissing samak! What a plonker!

Yes snags further down the article he says anyone would have been asked to leave. I must admit I also find hetero snogging in public offensive.

helen you don't have to display the rules, you can make them up as you go along and you don't have to explain or justify them, the management reserve the right and all that.... You can say I'm only serving one legged dwarfs wearing green on Tuesdays if you like.
Ahh missed that. His pub, his rules then I guess, although it seems a bit churlish imo... there are worse things...
i have thrown a couple out of the pub as they were exchanging tonsil address's and several custmers were complaining

yes the rule of the brewery not the law of the land. Pub chains may have internal "rules" and "standards" but they are not law.
R1Geezer. You asked if it was offensive or not. The point I was making was that it is as offensive to me as people smoking in the pub i.e. all offensive behaviour shouldn't be allowed. I didn't say I wanted smoking in pubs.
Don't be a pudding your whole life.
Sorry to be thick what is or are P.D.A.s ?
Ron - public displays of affection
If the landlord asked them not to do it, then they shouldn't have, if they wanted to stay there. I like to think the best of people and accept at face value that he would've done the same with anyone, straight or gay. The talk of a 'mass kiss-in' is just silly.
You're missing the point samak, smoking hasn't been banned because it's offensive, it's been banned because of the dangers of passive smoking. I find swearing offensive but I don't expect that to be banned from pubs anytime soon!
I find £3 a pint offensive but that looks like it's here for a while too.
Cheers SB - I didn't know that either - but to get back to OP - I wouldn't find it offensive - bit odd, maybe, but not offensive.
