I am constantly accused of being racist when I describe certain criminals of being 'savages', after they have committed certain vicious crimes. .

Well it would appear that the bit of gutter slime who has been charged with the shooting of the two British tourists in Florida, has himself had the words 'Young Savage' tattooed' on his chest.

So in the future will I be in order to use this word, now that it seems it is being used by the savages themselves?

/// Tyson, a school dropout who has the street nickname of “Young Savage” and a tattoo bearing the same words, had been arrested earlier this month after allegedly shooting at a car, but was released from a juvenile detention centre after witnesses failed to show up to give evidence at a court hearing. ///

"American culture"

thats not whats being referred to, specifically black gangsta rap culture is though.

Bill Haley and rock'n'roll culture of the 50s' hasnt/didnt have the same effect as the destructive criminal black influence.

Mmmmm pretty intensive research Gromit, just a pity you have only chosen to highlight the ones that involve ethnics.

I make no excuses for reporting on the crimes I chose because all were of a savage nature.

I do not use the word savage to annoy anyone, but if I do (annoy anyone that is) then it is their problem and not mine.

This word 'savage' is a perfect bona-fide word used to describe a particular vicious attack, whether it is carried out by a person who is black, a person who is white or used to describe a 'savage dog.

I will continue to use it whenever I find it appropriate, and I will not be dictated to and told that I should use an alternative word because 'savage' seems to upset some over-sensitive persons on this site.

I don't know about annoying the lefties, but it seems to annoy you Gromit, so it can't be all bad.

/// it's OK to call them all savages.///

Only the ones that commit savage crimes.

And if I could come across a word that was more insulting to these gutter scum, then I would use that word also.

Why are you protecting these lowlifes, is it because they happen to be black?

It is not racist to call a black vicious criminal anything that comes to mind, just as it is not, even if their skin isn't black, (but then it would not be racist then anyway).

AOG. I just put 'antheoldgit' + 'Savages' into the search box above. I have not sorted or filtered the answers, those are the search results generated by the AB site. The lack of search results featuring you condemning white savages, may be because you have not posted any.
Bill Hayley and the teenagers of the 50's what a brill answer will Little Richard get blamed for the knife crime :)
Bucks Fizz and Brotherhood of Man have a lot to answer for as well.
.. and Pearl Carr & Teddy Johnson
You neglected to mention Edmundo Ross. I always though he brought a sinister South American influence to our popular music.
Anyone who thinks that 'gangsta rap' is 30 years old, is displays and stunning lack of musical knowledge, and should be slightly ignored.

The first big gangsta rap song to make it big in the UK was 'Nothin' But G Thang' by Dr Dre in 1994.
Was he from the group Dre Straits
And what is a 'G thang' ??

It's my understanding that a lot of rap terminology has it's foundation in black US 30's jazz, which of course grew from the preceding 20 years of black artists singing the blues.
It's fundamentally anti-establishment and designed to encourage hatred toward the system that youngsters may or may not realise today is an outdated obsolete notion, what with continued diversity programs, equal rights and a much improved social outlook that has no bearing on the early 1900's left over slave trade mentality that initiated the genre.
Any uneducated gangsta (black or white) that exhibits such mentality today so as to resort to gun or knife crime, to remain insular and separate from mainstream society is in my view a savage.

It makes no difference if I was purple, the facts are there.

The similarity of gangsta rap and the old blues is that the cd's are round.
