I personnaly think that the DailyMail has gone too far this time, in printing these horrendous pictures of this young man's final moments.

Surely it was enough to report on this disastrous accident without the need to illustrate all the gory details?

The press don't indulge in moral agonising - If it sells newspapers, and will get past the Press Council, somebody will print it.
Absolutely chuckfickens
Teddy_boy - if you think offering your opinion means you have a right not to have that opinion criticised, then you appear tohave lead a prety sheltered life.

A democratic site like the AB encourages debate and opinion, and very oftn people will disagree with stated opinions and discuss their points at length, sometimes even finding that after due discourse, their original opinionhas altered on the basis of the arguments they have read on here - so don;t apologise for your opinion, but do be prepared to have it disagreed with and argued against, a right that is that of everyone on here, including of course, your good self.

Ankou - fair point, we must agree to disagree on this one.
The difference being chuckfickens , i was asked for my opinion( as was anyone reading ).Therefore i believe my point is relevant.
sara, i don;t come in at nights, i wouldn;t know.

although i must also confess to having an inner turmoil of having seen these tragic images, whilst the latest post keeps updating the thread 'i believe i can fly'.
Andy an interesting , if elongated point.
Thanks ... I think ...
teddy_boy, you were asked for an opinion on the printing of the photos in the paper, were you not? Not about the posting of a question? Hence my opinion on your response.
My thoughts are still with his family and although i may not agree with everyones opinions , i do accept that others wont always agree with me.I have made my views known and dont see anything to be gained by adding to this.
It may be bad taste, but I think the outcry is over the top.
It's not as if anyone is glorifying in gore or anything. Death is a part of life, not something to be hidden away from us all.
That said, the family should probably have been given the opportunity to veto.
A fair point well made Paul.

So you see teddy_boy - this is how it runs ... feel free to leap in anytime and have your shout ...
Andy im far too old to be shouting on a website to strangers.
Thanks ... I think ...
actually, the question could simply have been answered with a yes or no.

opinions not required.

was there any need ? no
It's a news item and pictures are valid. We see pictures of plane crashes where there is great loss of life......remember Concorde at Paris?
that was my initial thought old_geezer, I wouldn't like to think what his family and friends are thinking of seeing these photos.
Who mentioned shouting?

We debate and discuss, and ocassionally get a bit warm, but that's because we enjoy it! if you are too old to discuss your opinions, then you are too old ... period!
Yes, the frame-by-frame sequence of a man's death shown on that page was completely unnecessary.

By the way, re the thing about the BBC documentary; this is not new. What short memories we have; I think it was during the 90s when they first showed a man dying of cancer, literally drawing his final breath. They had filmed his decline, and he and his family had agreed that his actual death would be shown.
So you see teddy_boy - this is how it runs ... feel free to leap in anytime and have your shout ...
JimT, I'd not seen nor heard of that to be honest, I was in my teens through the 90's though so I wouldn't have paid attention to it.
It's not so much that the family have agreed to show it, they have an attachment to the man, they may see a personal beauty to it, I just don't understand why someone would want to watch a strange man dying, I think it's intrusive and voyeuristic.
This is the Daily Mail which printed the leaked pictures of Katie Price's daughter wearing tarty make up?

The "newspaper" which castigated Katie for dressing her daughter "inappropriately", and then printed 10,000,000 copies of the "inappropriate" picture, and sponged up the profits from the sales?

The "newspaper" which then printed the same picture for three days in succession, just to show how "inappropriate" it was ???

There are no depths to which that raggy tabloid will not sink in order to boost sales.
