So , Kate McCann ( on publication of her book ) is calling upon David Cameron , for the government to '' take some responsibility '' in finding their missing daughter .

Is her choice of words reasonable , in the circumstances ?

None of us is perfect, but we do take proper precautions and try not to endanger our children, never in a million years would I leave a child alone even for a minute. Yhey could choke, break a bone, touch a plug; it all just needs thinking about in advance.
homo paedos do not kidnap little girls. They have no use for them.

the first time you let them walk to school? to the shops? the park?
We can't wrap them in cotton wool sara but we CAN avoid putting them in situations where they are at risk

Like leaving them home alone in a foreign country

netibiza, are you beside them all night in case they miss a heartbeat......there's a fine line between rearing & smothering kids.
Didn't the apartment complex offer a baby-sitting service? I think that's part of the reason they holidayed there.

And why the vitriol to Kate, surely some of it must go to Gerry as well.
alba, the McCanns were with a group of parents who shared the care between them.
with hindsight, it was wrong.. but realistically, no one could have foreseen what happened.
aahh thanks tambo. Wasn't too sure about that.
sara the first time I allowed my 6 year old to go to the local shop, I trailed her, if I showered or bathed she was either in bed asleep or safely in her playpen. I was lucky enough to be trained in childcare so I could see a lot of the dangers.

BTW there is no more proof of a kidnapper being in that apartment than you or I were. They are exploring all the known avenues. kidnap, accident, runaway, what else is there? It's all guesswork for now.

All we can hope and pray for is the safe return of Madeline unhurt in any way. But seriously what are the odds??
sara, here we do not put the bin bags out, and if I took a pee the door was open and I could see her, she went to school several miles away so it was a car job.

These are petty things, leaving a child alone whilst out eating is bad. To quote Kate herself, when she found Maddie missing, "She ran like mad and when the table appeared in sight (?) she screamed "maddies's gone, they've taken Maddie" This does not sound like sitting in one's garden.
if that's Kate's quote it would be "I ran like mad.. " not "she.."
