Black women are uglier than whites, Asians, Native Americans...FACT

Satoshi Kanazawa from the LSE published his findings on a blog today which deals in a scientific study on attractiveness which rates black women as physically unattractive compared to other races.

Leaving aside the veracity of his findings (and we can all empirically find many, many exceptions to his 'rule'), can someone explain why such a study needs to be made? What does it tell us? How are we educated/informed by the findings? Are we enriched?

And can something so subjective be measured scientifically? For instance, I think that Uma Thurman is stunningly beautiful, but a mate of mine think she looks like an ironing board that's been taught how to walk upright...so how can beauty or attractiveness be measured?

With 3 pages of comment I guess someone has already said it, but, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There may be some universal criteria, but generally speaking it is difficult to be objective in something that is clearly opinion.

Why does such a study need to be made ? Why is anything needed ? It probably isn't. I suspect it was a case of needing a study, any study, to get someone through a qualification.

This has been the basis of scientific study for the past century and is getting worse as you success for promotion is based on scientific publications.......particularly in Medicine. Publications are often repetitive and totally cr@p, but if that is going to get you promotion........then go for it.

Think the old adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder applies here. As far as the whys and wherefores of whether such a study should have been carried out, well, perhaps another saying applies - jobs for the boys. There are so many studies reported on that you may think were a total waste of time and resources, and quite possibly they are, but the alternative may be redundancies, which is okay for the average man in the street with a mortgage and their 2.4 children, but you can't do that to scientists can you? They do have an "ology" after all :)

But you see sp1814 as a black person can bring this up without any criticism, abuse. or any false accusations of racism. It is also interesting to note that Dr Satoshi Kanazawa is not Caucasian, I wonder what the implications would have been if he was?

Back to the findings 'Black women are uglier than whites etc'.

There are good looking black women just as there are ugly white women, but perhaps taking an average I tend to agree with Dr Kanazawa, sorry.

The Eastenders cast have three prominent black women, one is quite attractive, but the other two??????
