Alas the headlines are misleading: "The Libertines singer will now spend six months behind bars..."
He will spend no more than three months behind bars, and probably less. Apart from serving only half his sentence in prison (the rest "on licence") he will also have time deducted for any time spent in custody before his conviction and may also be released up to eighteen days early under curfew.
Until they manage to stop the use of illegal drugs in prison what's the point of being locked up. He will find them much easier to get them once inside. They say people come out of prison drug addicts although they were not on drugs when they went in.
Yes, of course in my humble opinion, answerprancer.
I base that opinion on the fact that when people hear that a criminal has been sentenced to six months, most people of sound mind would consider it reasonable that he serves six months, or at least thereabouts. They do not expect he will serve less than 50% of that term. Except, of course in this country.
"most people of sound mind would consider it reasonable that he serves six months, or at least thereabouts".
Again that's a very sweeping thing to say IMO - is this why you label yourself a 'judge' because you are judgemental ?
