Are gays no better than people who have it off with household pets (bear with me...!)
French politician Brigitte Bareges has caused outrage in France when she compared gay weddings to ‘unions with animals:

Now, I know those from the 'conservative end' of the political spectrum see gay equality as something to fight against (family values, traditional morals etc), but surely, equating a loving consensual relationship between two adults is a world away from...well, having it off with with a border collie!
Is this a common perception?

It is however the perception among right-wing morons who belong to the Bigots Assocation.
The lady has attempted to distancec herself from her remarks by referring to them as 'a joke'.
She got that right, but fails to remember that a pre-requisite of becoming a card-carrying member of the Bigots Association, is the removal of any last vestiges of a sense of humour, so that particular 'get out of troube' tactic has failed.

<<why are extreme right wing views regarded as bigoted and moronic but extreme left wing views aren't?>>
I am aware this is a sweeping generalisation ....
but I think that right wing views are more likely to be repressive and prohibitive in as much as they disagree with certain people being allowed or able to do something and they want to stop/ban/prohibit that behaviour - and are often prepared to use force to enforce that view.
Opposing liberal views (more useful I think than 'left wing' or socialist which in extremis is just another form of Fascism) tend to be permissive - even to a fault in the mind of Right Wingers.
