Did anyone watch Question Time last night?

Did you think that Dimbleby tried to belittle Peter Hitchens in front of the audience too much? After all he is the chairman who should be impartial, obviously Dimbleby already had it all set down before the show, on how he was to attack Hitchens.

I thought Hitchens views on why he thought sex was etched on young persons minds far too much these days, vie sex education lessons, and the fact that we were a much more moral country when marriage was more prevalent, were a little over the top.

But his views on Libya, and overseas aid were spot on in my opinion.

"Did you think that Dimbleby tried to belittle Peter Hitchens in front of the audience too much?"

no
Peter Hitchens is a pompous buffoon but Dimbleby is a terrible 'host'; he always has been but he's getting worse.
I once bought a Hitchens book by mistake - I thought he was his brother!
Yes, thats what the panellists are there for, to give their own views. He allowed Germaine Greer to rabbit on, none of it making any sense... I mean whats a barbie doll got to do with sex and as for the young girl kissing her father before going to bed which to Greer was a sexual act it defies belief.
rov - agree with you - they should have had one of those shepherd's hooks, like in Monty Python and pulled Germaine off the stage (:o(

And don't mention that obnoxious young woman in the audience, who rudely said to Hitchens, "you've had your say now let me have mine".

Also the one that rattled on at the speed of an express train.
Loads more reasons why not to watch the programe
Rather ironic that when I clicked on this question, the ad link above the replies was for Andrex Toilet Tissue !!
That`l wipe the smile off his face ;0)

Others may think you are heathfield, but I wouldn't be so rude.
Eh? I took that ad link to be a comment on the programme AOG, and certainly not on your question! Sorry if there's been any confusion.
I've said this before on AB – Dimbleby is a dreadful host. As Chairman, he should facilitate debate by acting as a conduit between the audience and the panel. It is not his role to ask his own questions of panel members and absolutely not his role to criticise any opinion that either the audience or panel members express.

However, in the last few years he has started to resemble a filtered facsimile of Jeremy Kyle – berating panel members for having opinions that he doesn't agree with and sometimes even resorting to bullying and ridicule.

It's quite shameful that the the BBC's flagship political prime-time show has been cheapened in this way.
I used to be a faithful viewer but don't watch it nowadays. Having said that I think Peter Hitchens is a pompous ass, and his brother is even worse.
