Good to read that they still enjoy free speech in the Netherlands, as well as a politician who is not afraid to speak out against the spread of Islam into his country.

/// Mr Wilders, said he was "defending the character, the identity, the culture and the freedom of The Netherlands." ///

Is there anyone who would defend the character, the identity, the culture and the freedom of Britain?

Just to keep the 'Daily Mail Hate Brigade' happy.

The UK is a wonderful place. It is liberal, humane, racially diverse, open to people from troubled foreign lands, and a place where we can all say what we like.
whats the point ?

the dutch court said what he had done was not illegal.

end of story.

i would, and even if i didn't believe Mr Wilders, can't understand the government who barred him from entering Britain, because of his stance on Islam, yet allow people like Anjem Choudary, Abu Hamza and others to stand in the streets waving placards calling British soldiers killers, and worse. I believe he was allowed into Britain eventually, and gave a talk to a group of MP's, or that's what i read, but you shouldn't lecture people about fairness, without seeing both sides of the argument.

sandyroe are you kidding, if i said what i think on any number of issues i would likely end in jail. Diverse we may be, but integrated we are not.

One must assume from the Guardian's careful editing of this story, that they must have been choking on their muesli, just having to report on this.

Yes. No shortage of views on how Brits should manage their own affairs from people who don't live here.

I thought this nonsense trial had finished ages ago. Correct result
(Thanks for highlighting the case AOG).
I genuinely don't understand how The Netherlands or Britain are 'under threat' from Islam. Is he suggesting Dutch people are going to be convinced to turn to Islam?
"the Guardian's careful editing of this story"

seems they just reported the outcome like i did above.

politicians sit in their ivory towers, and don't see what's under their noses, and when their day is done will retire to some sunny clime and leave everyone else to get on with it. Many who live in rural areas don't know the problems in inner cities, in much the same way city dwellers know almost nothing about country life.

Sqad, glad you posted that, some people don't want to believe the situation we are in, but they will one day.
Just for the record;

As a liberal, I am pleased this person's freedom of speech has been sustained as his comments in the instance in question fell short of any 'incitement of hatred'.
