Good to read that they still enjoy free speech in the Netherlands, as well as a politician who is not afraid to speak out against the spread of Islam into his country.

/// Mr Wilders, said he was "defending the character, the identity, the culture and the freedom of The Netherlands." ///

Is there anyone who would defend the character, the identity, the culture and the freedom of Britain?

to be fair em10, if city dwellers no nothing about country life and vice-versa - why should they be concerned?
Is it really of that much importance what religion your neighbour is?
Should we not be defending the freedom of Britain to make our own choices?

/// I do not consider there to be a spread of Islam in the UK - do you have figures that back this comment up? ///

There is plenty of proof to be had, take this projection by the Pew Research Centre, and the statement by the Office for National Statistics

/// Projections by the respected Pew Research Centre said the 40 years between 1990 and 2030 will see a fivefold increase in the number of Muslims in Britain. In 1990 there were 1.1million Muslims in Britain, representing 2 per cent of the population. ///

/// By last year that figure had risen to 2.8million, or 4 per cent of the population. By 2030 the number will rise to 5.5million, 8 per cent of an estimated 68million population, Pew researchers said. ///

/// The Muslim population in Britain increased roughly 10 times faster than the rest of society, according to the Office for National Statistics. ///
yes, but etymologically speaking, calling it the tribal homeland of the londoners would be improper non? oui? or just a misunderstanding.....

sorry typo, but i didn't care for the term, we can blame the French
Omar Nasiri
The mid- to late 1990s were the years when Britain's capital earned the sobriquet of `Londonistan, a title provided by French officials infuriated at the growing presence of Islamist radicals in London and the failure of British authorities to do anything about it. Hummm

/// I genuinely don't understand how The Netherlands or Britain are 'under threat' from Islam. ///

There were also many who said similar to that way back in the 30s.when discussing the threat of Nazism, good job we didn't take any notice of those appeasers then.

/// Is he suggesting Dutch people are going to be convinced to turn to Islam? ///

And back in 1930s Britain it wouldn't have then been a matter of being convinced to turn to Nazism, it would have been a case of collaborate with them or suffer the consequences.
